The London 2012 Olympic Village provides residential style accommodation for approximately 17,000 athletes and delegates during the Games, and also boasts shops, restaurants, a medical centre, media facilities, a state of the art gym (of course!) and additional leisure facilities. Large areas of open space are another important, key feature.

The Village situated within the Olympic Park and within easy walking distance of the key venues, something which has not always been the case at previous Olympics. It is hoped the collective Olympic atmosphere will be highly enjoyable for the athletes and officials who reside there during the Games.

Athletes staying at the Olympic Village who are competing at venues elsewhere in the city can take advantage of the High Speed 1 Javelin shuttle service which will transfer them from the village to King's Cross station in seven minutes.

It is estimated that the village cost £324 million to construct and according to LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games) each apartment is fitted with all the highest standard equipment and furnishings, including wireless internet access. The village will also benefits from a plaza area where athletes and coaches can relax with friends, family and other visitors.
